Bowling Style

He is relatively small in figure compared to his other fast bowling Colleagues, but he was still able to reach speeds in excess of 90 mph (142-150km) due to his athletic body and good starting speed. He was generally wicket taking bowler who was the fastest up to 50 wicktes. Many questions arose over the course of his career about his savings rate. his career ecomony rate was fair 5.07.

Domestic Career

Agarkar represented the Kolkata Knight Riders in the (IPL) for three seasons. In season four, he was signed by Delhi Daredevils for $ 210,000.

His first breakthrough performance came in the Harris Shield under-19 tournament where his batting impressed the cricket experts so much as he was being rated as the ‘Next Sachin’.

And then there came a requirement of an All-rounder in the Bombay Ranji team. This Ajit started Focussing on bowling and in 1996-97 he got selected in Bombay Ranji team for a match against Gujarat. In the same year he scored a century against Sri Lanka’s under-19 team, which was led by Kumar Sangakkara. Besides this , he also represented India’s U-17 team against Australia in ODI in April and then against Zimbabwe in tests in Oct. Australia in reply had a century stand for the first wicket when Ajit agarkar dismissed their opening batter, Adam Gilchrist.

One of his top international bowling spells came against Australia on 12 December 2003 at Adelaide Oval in the 2nd test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Ajit Agarkar being an ODI bowler was more successful than a Test bowler. he impressed the selectors in his first international game. On 25 july 2002, a test match was played between India and England at Lord’s. Ajit Agarkar scored a century and scripted his name on the Honor’s board being the 9th Indian batter to score a hundred at Lord’s.

Ajit Agarkar made his ODI debut against Australia on April 1, 1998 in Kochi. he won Adam Gilchrist’s wickets in that match.

After making his debut, a 20-year-old Agarkar scored his first Man of the Match award in a crucial Coca-cola Championship Trophy match against new Zealand, winning four crucial wickets while India defended just 220 on April 17, 1998.

Ajit Agarkar’s better acoomplishments included his accomplishments in Australia in the 1999 test series and also in the 2003 test series.
